Do you have a good knowledge, understanding and experience of professional policing and research and/or policy development? Are you looking for a challenging role in an environment that is open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as a Lecturer and you could soon be designing, developing, delivering and assessing programmes in policing.

At the University we know the world of work is changing. We provide the means to support our students, to develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence and resilience, aiding them to realise their potential. The Royal Docks School of Business and Law is a vibrant and growing school at the University. Our successes are evident by a huge surge in growth of student numbers this year and the increase in applications for the courses for next year. As a result of this growth we are increasing the numbers of academic staff.

Your challenge? To benefit students by providing high quality, innovative and engaging teaching, both as a member of the teaching team and in collaboration with other colleagues. Day-to-day, you’ll work across a range of modules and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with the aim of equipping learners with the skills, knowledge and attributes employers need. In addition, you will develop teaching strategies, materials and assessments which are inclusive, engaging and appropriate to the student population.

Educated to postgraduate level in a relevant subject and, preferably with policing/criminal justice experience, you will have extensive knowledge of Policing and its relationship with the wider criminal justice system and society. Also, you will be a confident networker and relationship builder able to engage local and national employers and other educational institutions to provide progression opportunities and enhance the student experience.

UEL is a vibrant and diverse university located in Stratford and Docklands. We are implementing our strategy, Vision 2028, to transform our curriculum and partnerships to make a positive difference to student, graduate and community success. Our goal is to become the leading careers-focused, enterprising university in the UK, one which both prepares our students for the jobs of the future and provides the innovation to drive that future sustainably and inclusively.
