The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University, announces a competition for a full-time position of Assistant Professor or Assistant at the Department of History of the State and Law in the field of Roman Law and Legal History

The Department of History of State and Law is a department of the Faculty of Law MU, which carries out educational and scientific research activities in the field of Legal History and Roman law. In the field of teaching, it mainly teaches the compulsory courses Czech and Czechoslovak Legal History of the Modern Era, General Legal History and Roman Law, as well as compulsory elective courses in these fields. In the field of scientific research, the department focuses its attention primarily on the issues of modern Czech legal history in its entirety, specifically on the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the period of Socialism and the functioning of law in totalitarian regimes, as well as on the history of legal science. Part of the scientific research at the department is also the research of some institutes of Roman Law and their reception in modern legal development.

Your job will include:

• participation in the teaching of subjects implemented at the department (e.g. Roman law, Czech   and Czechoslovak Legal History of the modern period, general Legal History),
• preparation of study and teaching materials
• involvement in research activities, including participation in publications,
• participation in the organisational support of research and teaching activities, including related administration.

We require:

• Master's degree in Law from a Faculty of Law,
• Ph.D. degree (for the position of Assistant Professor),
• qualified interest in the field (for the position of Assistant),
• pedagogical focus primarily on Roman law, secondarily on Legal History,
• pedagogical aptitude; practical teaching experience (for the Assistant Professor),
• prerequisites for independent scientific research,
• ability to teach and publish in Czech and English; knowledge of German would be an advantage,
• publishing activity in the field of Roman law or Legal History, submission of the three most important scientific publications; information on the citation index,
• membership in important Czech and foreign organizations is an advantage,
• moral integrity.
