We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work on the joint University of Adelaide – CSIRO AquaWatch Pilot Project: Aquaculture in Spencer Gulf, South Australia. The successful applicant will work with the Aquatic Remote sensing Team at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere at Black Mountain, Canberra, ACT, but will be able to work remotely. 

In this role you will work to set up a pilot DataCube for the integration of earth observation (EO) satellite and in-situ data, implement atmospheric correction and ocean colour algorithms, and evaluate the relationships between EO and in-situ data. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of marine remote sensing with large spatial and temporal data sets from a range of sources.

To be successful you will need:

  • Graduate or postgraduate qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Remote Sensing or a related discipline
  • Strong computational skills (particularly Python programming)
  • Interest in and willingness to learn how to process remotely sensed (satellite, airborne, or proximal) data processing in Python
  • High quality interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to work effectively as a member of the team and for preparation of reports or publications
