Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a warm, genuine and people-focused Senior Manager with research commercialisation expertise to connect with and grow relationships with industry as part of our Industry Engagement, Business Development Portfolio.

You’ll work closely with researchers across the university as well as industry in the public and private sectors to build valuable relationships which focus on growing QUT’s research capacity and knowledge transfer.

Areas of research focus could include medical technology, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry or the health sector more broadly; or the energy sector and clean energy technologies; or other areas of research aligned to QUT’s research strengths. Find out more about our Research.

Who we are

The Business Development Portfolio sits within the Chancellery Division and provides university-wide coordination and stewardship of QUT’s engagement with industry, philanthropic and alumni communities. The Portfolio’s responsibility is:

  • Office of the Vice-President (Business Development);
  • Industry Engagement;
  • Advancement; and
  • Alumni and Corporate Events

What you need to succeed

You can show:

  1. A proven track record in establishing and maintaining long-term industry relationships and commercialisation activities
  2. Demonstrated ability in building strong and beneficial partnerships, which enhance an organisation’s reputation.
  3. Demonstrated experience or exposure to legal contracts and agreements with demonstrated understanding of commercial and Intellectual Property issues.
  4. Demonstrated ability to identify funding opportunities and to build relationships with researchers and industry to meet research income targets.
  5. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the interpretation of policy, compliance, legislative and regulatory documents with an ability to balance the requirements of these with organisational objectives.
  6. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively influence and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  7. Completion of a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline area or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
