Located in a modern £300m campus in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, the Business School is a thriving, vibrant, and inspiring learning community committed to high quality teaching with meaningful learning opportunities, excellence in research and impactful industrial engagement.

Building on continuous success in student growth and in sustained advancement of research activities, the School has embarked on a programme of extensive expansion funded by substantial long-term investments whilst also seeking AASCB accreditation.

This is your chance to join the Business School at a transformational stage of its growth, and to contribute to the ongoing success of its staff and students.

To support this exciting strategic initiative, the Business School is looking to appoint up to four permanent Lecturers in Management and one fixed term Lecturer in Management (24 months).

As a specialist in Management, the post holders will have the capacity to teach across a range of strategic and operational management sub-disciplines and all staff will contribute to teaching on Research Methods modules at Level 6 and Level 7. Candidates should be at the forefront of their discipline and should be able to inspire students and colleagues alike with enthusiasm for their subject area.

The post-holders will be expected, amongst other things: to undertake lecturing duties; to actively contribute to academic research (for example through publication in peer-reviewed journals); to support students as a pastoral tutor; to prepare teaching materials and design curricula; and to mark in a timely fashion and give appropriate feedback.

The post-holders will have the opportunity, and will be expected, to teach at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, from level 3 Foundation Year to level 7 Masters qualifications.

The post-holders will be able to bid for research hours and take part in enterprise activities, including corporate and executive education.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hold a first degree and higher degree in a relevant subject
  • Hold a teaching qualification or preparedness to work towards one
  • Have a PhD or be in the final stages of completion
  • Be a member of a relevant professional body, such as the Chartered Management Institute
  • Demonstrate excellent teaching in higher education or have presented regularly to professional audiences in an industry setting

In return we offer a generous pension and annual leave provision. We also operate a hybrid working model that allows staff to combine on-site and remote working where appropriate, dependent on work duties.
