Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A), $91,402 per annum including an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation will apply.

We are seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to work on electrocatalysis and energy conversion devices on a fixed term basis for up to 24 months.

This position is for a materials scientist to work on the design and developing of materials for electrocatalysis applications. Work includes synthesizing nanomaterials with well-defined structures, conducting various characterizations of these nanomaterials, designing testing compartments, and testing for energy conversion performance.

The successful applicants will be working in the Centre for Materials in Energy and Catalysis, with a diverse range of scientists and engineers with expertise in materials science and engineering for energy-related applications. The research will be interdisciplinary and have a strong fundamental component with cutting-edge materials synthesis and advanced analytical methods. These positions can offer you an exceptional opportunity to work closely with key research participants around the world.

To be successful you will need:

  • A recent PhD degree, or is completing a PhD degree (
  • Expertise in the synthesis of functional materials and their application in energy conversion. Strong background in electrocatalysis principle and electrocatalyst design.
  • Knowledge and experience in modern materials characterization methodologies, such as Microscopy, and in-situ spectroscopy.
  • Good teamwork that is suitable for a research group that includes a mixture of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs and senior academic staff, under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Excellent track record in scientific journal publications.
