Applications are invited for a Fixed Term 13 months post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and talented researchers to work on a two-year project examining the implementation of compact growth policies. With national, regional and local planning policies espousing higher residential densities, this project is perfectly timed to answer questions about how sustainable such policies are. The research is funded by the Irish Research Council COALESCE programme -

The principal investigator is Assoc Prof Declan Redmond, and the co- investigator is Professor Francesco Pilla. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project: 

  • Undertaking systematic literature reviews and policy analyses
  • Quantitative and spatial analysis of development patterns 
  • Interviews with key stakeholders 
  • Project management

Salary Range: 39,522 - 43,128 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
