The Institute of Concrete Structures (IMB) at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) has been teaching for over 100 years. Today, two professorships belong to the institute. The topics in teaching and research range from reinforced concrete in all its facets in experiment and simulation to supporting structures for wind turbines onshore and offshore, railway bridges for high-speed traffic and building monitoring. Numerous practical partners enrich the teaching on offer. Together, research results are transferred into real construction projects at the IMB. The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Concrete Structures (Prof. Marx) offers subject to resources being available a position as 

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting at the earliest possible date. The position is limited until November 30, 2024. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.

Task: Scientific investigations, particularly in the BMBF project WIRreFa | WIR recycle fibers “From recycled fiber to new product”. The focus of the project is on the experimental and numerical investigation of reinforcements made from recycled fibers. The assignments include scientific investigations in the field of of non-metallic reinforcements, especially from recycled carbon fibers; literature research; gaining knowledge through theoretical, experimental and numerical investigations; creation of experimental concepts incl. implementation, evaluation and documentation of the tests; (further) development of design approaches; publications of research results in scientific journals and at conferences. In addition, the project-related supervision of student projects and theses (diploma and master) is also within the scope of duties.

Requirements: university degree in the field of civil engineering, building material engineering or comparable with an above-average academic performance; deep interest in civil engineering and mechanics; great sense of responsibility, reliability and a high degree of initiative; good organizational skills and an independent and conscientious approach to work; good team spirit and communication skills including good oral and writing skills; very good English skills and at least a basic knowledge of German; skilled in the use of technology and software commonly used in this profession.
