Job Description

Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (THEM) is seeking a candidate with expertise in the domain of tourism and hospitality management, with a background in either cultural tourism or the MICE sector.

The candidate will be expected to deliver courses in the areas including, but not limited to:

  • Cultural and Heritage Tourism, Cultural Studies in China, Intercultural Management, etc. (with Cultural Tourism Background)
  • Event Planning, Exhibition Design, MICE Management, etc. (with MICE background)

Job Requirement

All applicants should hold a PhD degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management with a solid track record in research in a related discipline. Successful candidates are expected to commit to excellence in teaching. Proficiency in English is required as English is the medium of instruction in THEM. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in cultural tourism OR MICE and with demonstrable ability to undertake independent research leading to outcomes with a strong impact, such as publication in high quality, internationally recognized, indexed journals and scholarly presses. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the successful candidate’s experience and accomplishments.

Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
