Categories: Academic-related Staff
Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Swire Institute of Marine Science (Ref.: 517054), to commence on or before January 1, 2023 for two years.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Ecology, Marine Biology, Zoology, or other relevant disciplines. They should have a strong publication record and be experienced in research on the behaviour and ecophysiology of intertidal organisms. Those with relevant backgrounds in molecular biology and/or ecological modelling, have an interest in marine ecology and enjoy fieldwork and working in a hot collaborative environment (literally) are especially encouraged to apply.
The appointee will join Professor G.A. William’s Tropical Intertidal Ecology Group (https://www.tidehku.com/). The group’s current research interests focus on understanding how high shore species in the tropics persist in such an energy-limited and thermally extreme environment, and the role of acclimation in shaping behavioural responses and physiological tolerances of individuals. The appointee will undertake projects on any aspects of behaviour and ecophysiology of tropical intertidal organisms, involving mostly field surveys/manipulative experiments and laboratory physiological measurements. More information on current and future projects can be found at https://www.tidehku.com/research-interests.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
The University only accepts online applications for the above post. Applicants should apply online, and send a CV and nominate two referees directly to Professor G.A. Williams at hrsbwga@hku.hk. Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until November 10, 2022 (extended to November 30, 2022), or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
