Post available for a data scientist or epidemiologist to join the AIM Study

A position is available in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton for data scientists or epidemiologist. This position is based at Aldermoor Health Centre in the Primary Care Research Centre and remote working will also be considered.  The post is offered at ERE Level 4 or ERE Level 5 depending on qualifications and experience. 

The project examines clusters of diseases by health and social care in multiple long-term conditions within several large national databases. This programme of work is funded by the NIHR. 

Our research uses data-driven artificial intelligence methods alongside traditional statistical approaches. Experience in either methodological area is welcome. The post-holder will be educated to degree level and must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject (Epidemiology, Medical or Social Statistics, Bioinformatics, Data science or equivalent).  You will have advanced epidemiology and statistical skills, experience of carrying out cohort analysis using STATA or R.  Previous experience of healthcare databases (such as CPRD, SAIL or Q-Research) is essential. 

Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of data scientist or senior epidemiology fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given

This post is offered on a full-time or part time basis, fixed term contract for one year in the first instance with the potential to extend.  Part-time or job share working will be considered.
