About the Role

The Department of Psychological Sciences, within the School of Health Sciences, provides state-of-the-art undergraduate, honours and postgraduate psychology training at Masters and Doctoral levels. 

After successfully completing their course, students are eligible for general psychologist registration in Australia, and to begin their registrar program for Area of practice endorsement in Clinical and/or Forensic Psychology.

We are seeking a suitably qualified Senior Lecturer to join us and primarily be responsible for teaching and clinical supervision duties in the postgraduate clinical psychology programs at Swinburne. You will be responsible for coordinating and supporting sessional and other teaching staff to ensure a high-quality teaching experience for students and will also develop and manage industry partnerships and conduct research.

Postgraduate clinical psychology training at Swinburne provides high-level APAC-accredited training in psychopathology, assessment and therapeutic interventions for adults and children living with clinical disorders such as anxiety disorder, clinical depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, personality disorders, trauma, alcohol dependence, childhood disorders and psychogeriatric conditions. It also provides important research training for evidence-based practice and competent delivery of research and evaluation projects in the psychological sciences. 

The Department of Psychological Science is a warm and collegial working environment, and offers regular in-house peer supervision for psychologist academics engaged in clinical practice.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • A track record of publications and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing research activities within the field
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching in a University setting, including but not limited to small and large group, clinical and research supervision.
  • Demonstrated high levels of written and oral communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member

Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (PhD or DPsych)
  • Psychology Board Australia approved clinical supervisor for higher degree trainees.
  • Registration with AHPRA with specialist endorsement in clinical psychology.
