Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within UCD School of Public health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science

The 3rs project: Responsive, Rehabilitative Robotics in Motor Relearning of Functional Standing and Walking after Stroke aims to exploit neural bio-signals at brain (EEG) and muscle (EMG) level during lower limb function after stroke to improve delivery of robot assisted therapy.

This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:

  • Proactively contribute to the technical development of the 3Rs work-programme and identify areas for innovation within the project and practical solutions for their implementation
  • Mentor 2 PhD research students associated with the 3rs project 
  • Interact with 3Rs stakeholders (internal and external) and be comfortable presenting to mixed audiences to increase the awareness of the 3Rs project
  • Contribute and in some instances, take the lead on the preparation of scientific publications arising out of the 3Rs project
  • Develop data analysis pipelines and methodologies, including modelling approaches for motion trajectory prediction, verified by human movement sensing data
  • Deliver a closed loop prototype model in conjunction with a partner robotics company
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator

Post Doc Level 2: Salary Range - €46,906 - €51,035

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
