You will join the Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics at the University of Southampton as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) or Associate Professor in Design and Optimisation.

By joining us you will help us strengthen our expertise in one or a combination of the research areas outlined below:

Data-driven tools including machine learning and artificial intelligence for multidisciplinary modelling, design and integration of aerospace and/or propulsion systems 

Model-based Engineering (MBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches applied to aerospace systems including development and utilisation of digital twins

Propagation/quantification of uncertainties in predictive tools used for multidisciplinary design 

However, experience in other related areas will also be considered. You will join a very active department with inter-disciplinary research interests across Aeronautics and Astronautics where fundamental and industrially relevant problems are addressed with theoretical, experimental and computational methods. The department has broad research interests in numerical and experimental aerodynamics, computational engineering and design, astronautics and spacecraft engineering. The Department is affiliated with two Rolls Royce University Technology Centres (UTC), one in Propulsion systems noise and the other in Computational Engineering and Design.
