Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is developing an innovative, tertiary School of Veterinary Medicine. We have a clear ambition to ‘promote the resilience of our graduates to sustainably support the animals and rural communities at the heart of Scotland’s Natural Economy’.

With some senior posts already in place, we are now looking to recruit up to 10 Senior Lecturers / Lecturers with the passion, commitment and enthusiasm to help us develop and deliver a unique brand of veterinary education. This is the first call in a rolling programme of staff recruitment, providing applicants with the opportunity to be ‘in at the start’ of shaping something special.

Veterinary Senior Lecturer                                                            £55,612 - £64,914 p.a

Senior Lecturer – School of Veterinary Medicine                       £45,581 - £48,955 p.a

Veterinary Lecturer                                                                        £46,600 - £50,069 p.a

Lecturer – School of Veterinary Medicine                                   £35,129 - £40,560 p.a

Currently, we are seeking appropriately qualified and experienced staff with the interest in curriculum, assessment and course design and the aptitude to teach dynamically into the early years of the Veterinary Curriculum. We are greatly interested to hear from applicants with skills in;

  • Design and leadership of Veterinary education. Systems / comparative physiology, Veterinary pharmacology Veterinary pathology Veterinary anatomy Animal husbandry / systems Veterinary clinical and professional skills teaching Professional development

Applications from experienced general practice / primary care MRCVS registered (or registerable) veterinary surgeons are encouraged.

Appreciative of the range in subject expertise we need to cover, and the many forms experience may take, we are inviting applications from individuals across a spectrum of employment types. Options exist for either full or part time work. Likewise, candidates may be recruited as 1. Veterinary Lecturer or 2. Veterinary Senior Lecturer (MRCVS registration essential) or our standard 3. Lecturer or 4. Senior Lecturer.  If you have a PhD or an equivalent qualification in a relevant subject OR excellent experience which potentially might be considered equivalent to this, we would encourage you to apply or to discuss this informally with the contacts below.
