At TU Dresden, "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Institute for Railway Systems and Public Transport seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate for the
Chair (W3) of Railway Operations
starting as soon as possible.
The chair conducts research on advancing concepts and models for railway operations in view of the growing importance of railway and public transport in intermodal mobility networks of passenger and freight and the desired transition towards sustainable transport systems. The focus in teaching and research is on designing and modelling railway operations and the associated use of resources to increase the attractiveness and sustainability, performance and economic efficiency of railway systems.
Trends like digitization, automation, dynamically increasing capacity requirements as well as new mobility services for passenger and goods transport shall be transferred into optimized and sustainable operational concepts for railways and public transport by using innovative methods, in particular from the fields of railway operations, operations research, machine learning, modelling and simulation.
As the chair holder, you (m/f/x) will represent the scientific field of railway operations in teaching and research. You will have a teaching obligation within the master and diploma programs at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences as well as in the teaching export to other faculties at TU Dresden. - Digitization and automation of planning, operations and dispatching in railway transport,
- Artificial intelligence or machine learning methods in railway operations processes and
- Railway operations management.
We would also like to see interest in and innovative ideas for the modernization of our faculty's railway operations laboratory, which shall be adapted to current scientific issues under the leadership of this chair.
We welcome your application if you hold a university degree in the field of railway construction, civil engineering or related relevant disciplines, possess pedagogical aptitude as well as the special capability for scientific work, which is usually proven by a doctoral/PhD degree as well as further outstanding academic achievements. The latter can be demonstrated via a habilitation/postdoctoral qualification, a junior professorship, or equivalent.
