The University of Greenwich aims to be the best modern University in the UK by 2030. We are seeking to recruit two Governance Support Officers to help us ensure that we have the governance in place to support this ambition and enable us to achieve our purpose of education without boundaries.

The Governance Support Officers play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our governance. They work collaboratively as part of the Secretariat team to provide critical and seamless support to key University committees.

Key tasks include planning committees’ work, drawing up agendas, reviewing and editing reports for meetings and drafting minutes. You will also take responsibility for maintaining committees’ action lists and for ensuring that colleagues are informed and reminded of their actions in a supportive and timely fashion.

Working under the direction of the Senior Executive Officer (Governing Body), each Governance Support Officer will have individual areas of responsibility but you will work as part of a team to ensure that the business of the Secretariat runs smoothly.

Experience of supporting boards or committees is essential for this role, as is excellent communication skills and a meticulous eye for detail. Understanding of the Higher Education context and regulatory environment would be desirable.

We offer a generous and competitive package including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, incremental pay spines and a competitive annual leave allowance, including extra leave over Christmas and New Year. Subject to the needs of the role, flexibility over home and in-office working can be considered.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Peter Garrod, University Secretary (email to Kerry White, Executive Assistant: k.white@greenwich.ac.uk)
