About the opportunity

With a global reputation for excellence in collaborative and transdisciplinary educational and social research, Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is seeking a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join their Teach Lab. TechLab is focused on research projects investigating school leadership, teacher education and effective teaching practices. The TeachLab research agenda, coupled with its mission to enable the education field to undertake evidence-based change, represents a major shift in how teachers are prepared, how they can best teach and how teaching improvement is undertaken.

The Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow will primarily be responsible for leading the research teacher education related research activities, as a key researcher with other team members and work to forge strong partnerships with schools, schooling systems and associated entities for research activity.

This position is to be viewed as a significant career advancement opportunity for an early career researcher in education.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Grow the world-leading research activities of the TechLab; 
  • Engage in university-wide and Faculty of Education research activities, contributing to a robust research culture;
  • Lead esteemed research publications in high ranked journals and research outlets; and
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and partners regularly to manage the success of project activities and outcomes.

About you

You will be passionate about strengthening international networks and joining forces with regional leaders to improve education outcomes. To compliment your PhD in Education, you will bring relevant experience aligned with an aspect of Teacher Education  Ideally, research in one or more areas of: teaching and learning in schools, school and teacher leadership, improving rural and remote education, teacher and leader professional learning.

More specifically, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to carry out research, contributing to multidisciplinary, team-based research activities;
  • Track record, relevant to opportunity in publications and research income generation; and,
  • Well-developed written and communication skills, including research engagement and impact.

This position is:

  • Full-time, fixed term (3 years)
  • Located at either Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast or Lismore. Generous relocation support available
  • Academic Level B or C:
    • Academic Level C –The base salary ranges from $123,900 - $142,531 per annum, plus 17% employer contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $166,761 per annum is offered for a Senior Lecturer appointment.
    • Academic Level B –The base salary ranges from $101,544 - $120,179 per annum plus 17% employer contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $140,609.
