Director of Strategy for Research Impact , Research and Innovation Service, University of Leeds

Are you a confident leader capable of building excellent working relationships with senior colleagues and external stakeholders? Do you have a successful track record in effectively developing and delivering strategic initiatives relating to research impact?

The University of Leeds delivers a diverse portfolio of knowledge exchange activities designed to maximise impact from the institution’s excellent underpinning research. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Innovation and as part of the Research and Innovation senior management team, you will provide strategic direction and oversight in relation to research impact across the University, working with and influencing senior stakeholders to help shape the direction of the University’s strategy. You will play a key leadership role in developing a research impact strategy and associated delivery plan for the University, which aligns with the institutional strategy and clearly sets out priorities for research impact at Leeds. You will also develop initiatives and narratives to reinforce the University’s commitment to knowledge exchange and to maximise and measure the impact arising from the University’s research.

The successful candidate will need to quickly establish a University-wide profile, building networks across the institution and externally, and working effectively in a complex and changing environment. Your approach will be considerate, persuasive and engaging, bringing key stakeholders along with you, ensuring strategic alignment and transformational change. You will have significant experience of leading research impact strategies and initiatives combined with an excellent understanding of research and the UK HE funding landscape. You will bring an imaginative, strategic and innovative approach and be able to identify new opportunities for growth to move the University forward.
