At the Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Artificial Intelligence, the Chair of Scientific Computing for Systems Biology, the 6G-life Research-Hub „Digital transformation and sovereignty of future communication networks” offers two positions as

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The positions are initially limited until August 14, 2025. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD / habilitation thesis).

Tasks: scientific research in one or several of the following topics:

  • data-driven modeling and/or bio-mimetic design of molecular communication networks;
  • analysis of known and novel molecular communication networks in systems biology using computer simulation;
  • analysis of the noise characteristics and the complexity of molecular communication pathways in living cells;
  • equation-free forecasting of network behavior using machine learning;
  • inference of mathematical models from measurement data such as microscopy images and/or mass spectrometry data;
  • design centering for robust systems identification of stochastic reaction networks.

Requirements: university degree (Diplom/Master) in Computer Science, (Applied) Mathematics, or related area; outstanding English language skills both oral and written (the working language at the institute is English); experience (ideally completed PhD) in data-driven modeling of complex systems and/or computer simulation of chemical signaling networks; outstanding programming skills preferably in C++ and Python; experience in interdisciplinary research ideally between computer science and biology; basic knowledge of molecular biology and physical chemistry.
