Applications are invited for a fully-funded Post-Doctoral Associate position in the Emergent Physics in Living Matter group led by Prof. Arjun Narayanan at New York University Abu Dhabi. The appointed candidate will be the Abu Dhabi based lead of a cross-disciplinary and international collaboration with the Developmental Mechanobiology group at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (IMG), Prague.

This collaboration combines breakthrough methods pioneered by our group, to measure the dynamic condensation of transient structures in living cells, with expertise in optogenetics and developmental mechanobiology, developed at IMG, Prague, to address multiple outstanding questions in the fields of mechanobiology, and the statistical physics of living systems. 

As our colleague, you will work with a strong global network of experts and mentors. You will also have significant intellectual freedom and support to shape the research in line with your own research interests and to build your own independent research portfolio.

We are open to applicants with a PhD in any relevant discipline. The primary criteria for selection are an excitement to learn and use multidisciplinary skills, and the ability to independently frame and pursue research questions. Direct experience with, or an interest in learning, the following skills is also useful:

  • High resolution fluorescence imaging, single molecule imaging, optogenetics and computational image analysis
  • Theory and analysis methods from the physics of complex systems
  • Mammalian cell culture and C. elegans biology

This position is not located in the United States and the applicant must be willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
