Applications are invited for a fully-funded Post-Doctoral Associate position in the Emergent Physics in Living matter group led by Prof. Arjun Narayanan at New York University Abu Dhabi. The appointed candidate will join and shape a multidisciplinary and international collaboration aimed at understanding outstanding questions related to endocytosis, intracellular cargo transport, and the biophysics of cell-cell signaling.

This collaboration combines breakthrough methods pioneered by our group, to measure the dynamic condensation of transient intracellular structures, with cutting-edge expertise in the optical measurement and manipulation of cellular physiology (Monash University, Melbourne), and in theory and simulation (École Normale Supérieure, Paris, and Tata Institute, Hyderabad).

As our colleague, you will work with a strong global network of colleagues and mentors. You will also have significant intellectual freedom and support to shape the research in line with your own research interests and to build your own independent research portfolio.

We are open to applicants with a PhD in any relevant discipline and to applicants with both theoretical and experimental interests. The primary criteria for selection include excitement to learn multidisciplinary skills, and the ability to independently frame and pursue research questions. Direct experience with, or an interest in learning, the following skills is also useful:

  • High resolution fluorescence imaging, single molecule imaging and computational image analysis
  • Theory and analysis methods from the physics of complex systems
  • Mammalian cell culture and/or experience with model organisms
