Job Description

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI), National University of Singapore is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow (Research Fellow) to join Asst. Prof. Jennifer Young’s Soft Nano-Biomaterials group. The group aims to characterize and recapitulate nanoscale extracellular matrix (ECM) properties of healthy and diseased tissues in order to better understand cellular behavior and clinical outcomes.

The specific project in this call is focused on understanding the mechanical and biochemical alterations occurring during mammalian ovarian follicular development with implications in female reproductive ageing and longevity. The postdoctoral fellow will study ovarian ageing via 1) tissue characterization (e.g., electron microscopy, mass spectrometry), 2) development of instructive biomaterials for in vitro cell culture, and 3) elucidation of mechanosensitive signaling pathways contributing to functional decline. Unique proposals related to the study of ovarian ageing and reproductive longevity are also welcome.

Qualifications

Candidates with a PhD in engineering (particularly biomedical engineering), biology, biomedical sciences, or similar are encouraged to apply. They should have a strong background in cell and/or tissue biology. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and engage in collaborative research in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

Salary and benefits are commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience of the candidates.
