The University is seeking to hire a full-time faculty position in psychology at the rank of Research Associate Professor/Research Assistant Professor, beginning Jan 1, 2022. Candidates should have an international reputation of interdisciplinary scholarship in one or more of the following areas: (1) Research Methods; (2) School Psychology; (3) Developmental Psychology, (4) Psychopathology; and (5) Psychological Assessment, and (6) Counseling Psychology. A strong interest in any of the following will be an advantage: (1) school/child/clinical assessment and counselling; (2) mental wellbeing in youths; (3) special education; and (4) developmental disabilities.

The appointee will join the Faculty of Social Science ( and will be expected to assist development of the Master of Science in Work and Organisational Psychology Programme (MWOP) and the Master of Applied Psychology Programme (MAP), develop and teach courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, publish high-quality research, apply for competitive external funding, engage in administrative duties, provide leadership and mentorship roles, as well as participate in academic and professional activities.

General Requirements

The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline from an accredited university, a distinguished record of publications in leading journals and scholarly achievements, and a demonstrated ability to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate level courses, a record of educational/school/clinical experience, evidence to be a strong mentor and advisor to students, and experience in academic administration.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate evidence of international standing and leadership role in the field in areas of impactful research, publications and/or external grants. Previous experience in academic programme administration and management is essential, demonstrate an ability to work with students, faculty and staff in a collegial environment, and the qualification to practice as educational/school/clinical psychologist are preferred. The appointee is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and services to the Department, the University community, and to engage actively in quality research and publication.


The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.

Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement.
