Applications are invited for a Temporary 5 year post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Thermodynamics) within UCD School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering
The School has recently launched a new undergraduate dual-degree programme in Automotive Engineering, at CDIC, The Chang'an-Dublin International College of Transportation in collaboration with Chang'an University, in Xi'an, China.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of this programme and will spend one trimester teaching in CDIC each year. The School will provide the successful candidate with funding to support a PhD student for a four-year period, on commencement of the post. The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes.
The School is home to Ireland's national manufacturing research centre, www.i-form.ie, and its faculty conduct research in all aspects of mechanical engineering. The successful appointee will be encouraged to develop their own research agenda in a relevant area, and to explore research collaborations with their colleagues in CDIC. There are also strong synergies for thermodynamics research with UCD's Energy Institute. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage actively in the School's research and to make a significant contribution to teaching and university life. The School is recruiting suitably qualified candidates, with an expertise in Automotive and/or Mechanical Engineering, and with a strong background in Thermodynamics. The successful candidate will design and deliver a suite of three modules, beginning at introductory level and culminating with a module on automotive engines.
As part of their application, applicants are requested to submit: - a 2-page research statement, outlining their research plans; - a 2-page teaching statement, outlining their planned approach to teaching and module development.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
