Applications are invited for a Temporary 5 years post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Fluid Mechanics) within UCD School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering

The School has recently launched a new undergraduate dual-degree programme in Automotive Engineering, at CDIC, The Chang'an-Dublin International College of Transportation in collaboration with Chang'an University, in Xi'an, China. The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of this programme and will spend one trimester teaching in CDIC each year. The School will provide the successful candidate with funding to support a PhD student for a four-year period, on commencement of the post.

The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes. The School is home to Ireland's national manufacturing research centre, www.i-form.ie, and its faculty conduct research in all aspects of mechanical engineering.

The successful appointee will be encouraged to develop their own research agenda in a relevant area, and to explore research collaborations with their colleagues in CDIC. There are also strong synergies for fluid mechanics research across the wider university, including with Science Foundation Ireland's National Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, I-Form, and UCD's Energy Institute. The School's core values are of excellence in both research and education, and a willingness to engage in university and professional life.

The School is recruiting suitably qualified candidates, with an expertise in Automotive and/or Mechanical Engineering, and with a strong background in Fluid Mechanics.

The successful candidate will design and deliver a suite of three modules beginning at introductory level and culminating with the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in an automotive context.

As part of their application, applicants are requested to submit: - a 2-page research statement, outlining their research plans; - a 2-page teaching statement, outlining their planned approach to teaching and module development.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
