Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position for a Respiratory Pharmacology Project in the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Respiratory Pharmacology Laboratory focuses on the target identification and drug discovery research for chronic airway diseases such as asthma, COPD and pulmonary fibrosis. Appointments will be made on a ONE YEAR contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator to ensure the successful completion of the proposed projects on time.

Main duties and responsibilities

The RF is expected to:

  1. design and conduct in-vitro cell culture assays
  2. develop in-vivo animal models of respiratory diseases
  3. design and conduct biochemical and molecular biological assays
  4. design and optimize molecule chemical modifications, if applicable
  5. support good laboratory management

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  1. have a PhD degree in the areas of biomedical science or medicinal chemistry  
  2. be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature and attention to details
  3. have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint and chemical drawing
  4. have research expertise in biomedical and chemical experimental techniques

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
