The Academic & Learning Enhancement Team supports a culture of continuous educational enhancement across the university. We aim to support the enhancement of pedagogy and curricula by (1) developing and recognising teachers and, where possible, influencing their reward and (2) supporting good programme design/review. 

The Associate Professor will take on institutional-level responsibilities: co-ordinating the development and implementation of an integrated review of curricula, which will include consideration of how the curricula relates to an enhanced curriculum framework, credit structures, delivery models and module/programme viability and efficiency.

Duties and responsibilities will typically include:

  • Overseeing the enhancement of the Curriculum Framework in line with the Student Success sub-strategy.
  • Coordinating work to develop a standardised credit structure and delivery models.
  • Coordinating work to develop principles relating to module/programme viability and efficiency.
  • Establishing a rolling process of curriculum review.
  • Socialising the new frameworks, structures, and principles to ensure buy-in across the institution.
  • Contributing to the wider work of the Academic & Learning Enhancement team.

You will undertake the normal range of responsibilities for academic staff on the learning and teaching pathway, including relevant teaching, scholarship and development activities.

You will have excellent knowledge of pedagogy, a track record of effective academic leadership, experience of coordinating an academic development project and of socialising change. You will have a track record of contributing to the scholarship of learning and teaching, including publications and grant capture and a strong understanding of the support and development needs of staff who teach and support learning in UK HE. You will have leadership and influencing skills, an ability to effect change in pedagogic practice and to drive forward pedagogic projects, coaching and mentoring skills, scholarship, research and evaluation skills; excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. You will hold a PhD, PGCertHE, and Senior Fellow (or Principal Fellow) of the HEA or equivalent.
