Reporting to
IDS Audio Visual, Simulation & Event Services Lead
Information and Digital Services

Under general direction, the role is responsible for assisting with technical and operational support in the provision of enterprise wide, high availability teaching, learning, research and event spaces that encompass multimedia hardware, video streaming systems, online conferencing solutions, simulation services and audio visual production across the University.

The role is also responsible for assisting with issues or incidents that have been identified or escalated through the IDS service desk.

Key Position Responsibilities

Technical Management & Support

  • Assisting with the resolution of issues or incidents that have been identified or escalated through the IDS service desk. 
  • Assisting to provide customer service, ensuring that customer requirements are fully addressed and that equipment and software are fit for purpose. 
  • Assisting with the technical and physical aspects of audio visual in the teaching and learning, research, meeting and event spaces.

Technical Vision & Roadmap

  • Assisting with the evaluation of new technologies and audio visual solutions that better support customer requirements. 
  • Maintaining and fostering positive relationships with all role stakeholders, including suppliers and IDS technical staff. 

Technical Knowledge & Excellence 

  • Supporting the delivery of training programs. 
  • Supporting both formal and informal market scanning and benchmarking activities to be aware of emerging market offerings and trends. 
  • Periodically participating in knowledge building activities and events to be aware of latest/best practices related to the role and to keep skills and knowledge up to date. 
  • Providing support to customers and stakeholders by identifying improvements to support services.

Risk, Governance & Ways of Working 

  • Supporting and maintaining standard operating procedures, protocols or instructions with respect to the provision of audio visual services. 
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating risks related to the activities being undertaken by the role in line with IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. 
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University. 

Key Position Capabilities

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment.  
  • Well developed analytical skills. 
  • Exposure to agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure. 
  • Effective self-improvement and growth mindset/approach to the role and as part of a wider team. 
  • Effective interpersonal influence and ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff and customers. 
  • General experience working in live events by way of setting up and operating complex video and audio visual hardware in varied environments. 
  • General experience in the installation, testing and maintenance of audio visual and general multimedia equipment. Including Crestron and Extron control and vision systems, BiAmp I Tesira audio processors and Cisco conferencing and networking equipment. 
  • General  knowledge on tuning and equalisation of spaces using audio processors and digital audio consoles.  
  • General knowledge for the programming of audio visual systems, including control systems and how these fit together in an integrated system. 
  • Higher education experience advantageous.
