The UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering seeks applications from outstanding candidates for an Assistant Professor position in Digital Manufacturing.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of a rapidly growing discipline comprising new teaching programmes and high impact research activity in Digital Manufacturing within the School's Systems Engineering subject area and the wider School, College of Engineering & Architecture and University. Ireland is home to over 1,500 multinational firms, many of whom have their European headquarters located here. This includes blue chip companies in the ICT, medical technology and pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors.

To support its expanding teaching and research activities, the School has developed strategic partnerships with a number of these top firms. The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the expanding Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing Simulation & Robotics (LAMS), as well as the prestigious Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) National Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (-Form).

In addition, UCD is the lead partner in the new Advance Centre for Professional Education, which is a multi-university Irish government supported initiative to provide industry based practitioners with postgraduate level qualifications to support the digital transformation agenda across Irish industry.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
