The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. We are a thriving community of academics and professional support staff who are committed to empowering each other and students to be the best they can be, and ultimately improve the lives of people within our local, national, and international reach. The Department is proud to educate health and social care students from all corners of the globe in Foundation, Undergraduate and Post Graduate studies. Following the REF21 Northumbria University rank 8th in the UK in terms of research power for Unit of Assessment 3, a rise of 13 places, a testament to the significant research strength of our department. We provide high quality, research-rich education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods including a state-of-the-art clinical skills centre. The post holder will work flexibly as part of the Mental Health Nursing team to contribute to teaching, learning, assessment, and research. They will participate in the planning, designing and development of undergraduate and postgraduate health programmes, as well as pastoral tutoring. They will provide expertise to further enhance research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and collaborative research that demonstrates impact and involvement in external activities which may include academic enterprise.

You must possess excellent knowledge of the subject area and have active professional registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), you must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in a related area or be qualified to Doctoral level.

Colleagues appointed into our Lecturer grade are usually early career academics who are supported through their probationary period to develop their Academic profile.
