Job Opportunity at National University of Singapore for
Research Project on Childless Aging in Singapore and Thailand (CAST)

The postdoctoral fellowship is intended for outstanding active researchers to work on a mixed methods study that examines the demographics of childless older populations, pathways to childlessness, and the well-being of childless older persons in Singapore and Thailand. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with PIs A/Prof Bussarawan (Puk) Teerawichitchainan (Sociology, National University of Singapore) and A/Prof Christine Ho (Economics, Singapore Management University) in overseeing research project management, conducting data analysis, writing and publishing research papers.

Terms and conditions

  • The appointment is tenable for a period of one year, with a possibility of renewal;
  • Projected date of commencement: July 2022 (negotiable);

Qualifications

The applicant should have the following:

Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. in a social science discipline from a recognized university, preferably in Sociology, Public Policy Economics, Psychology, and Gerontology; (qualified PhD candidates who expect to graduate by the start date are also welcome to apply)
  2. Research expertise in population aging, family demography, and Asian societies;
  3. Strong quantitative research skills and good publication records;
  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  5. Excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  6. Candidates who are also familiar with qualitative data analysis are preferred.
