Northumbria School of Design has a global reputation for design-led research with an emphasis on practice, understanding and redefining problems, and making positive real-world change. Our staff, students and collaborators engage in developing new and innovative practices within design, and in innovation and research through design. Our staff have pioneered original approaches for evolving design research practices, emerging technologies, craft, co-creation, participatory design, and responsible design practice. Northumbria School of Design has been delivering Fashion education for over 60 years and has established a significant reputation for outstanding graduates with creative vision, commercial realism, industry knowledge and skills. The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual with experience in both education and research as well as the leadership qualities required to inform and advance research and education in the field of Fashion Communication at Northumbria. The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of the practice and theory of Fashion Communication, with contextual research and professional practice within the field.

You will have academic and industry knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Fashion journalism and content creation, fashion social media and communication strategy, design and implementation; digital and physical environments; creative storytelling and campaign delivery; creative direction and fashion styling. You will demonstrate an ethical and social commitment to the development of Fashion Communication in society and a detailed understanding of the creative, technical, and applied skills required of the discipline.

Colleagues appointed into our Lecturer grade are usually early career academics who are supported through their probationary period to develop their Academic profile. Upon completion of probation objectives these colleagues are automatically moved into the Assistant Professor role.
