Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant position with immediate effect in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on contract basis for a duration of 3-3.5 years.
Purpose of the post
Membrane transporters regulate the transport of nutrients through cell membrane. Our previous work has shown the importance of these transporters for animal physiology (Nature, 2017, JBC 2020, Nat Comms 2021, JCI 2020). We are currently interested in studying the roles of membrane transporters in the lysosomes for better understanding of the transport of metabolites from the lysosomes for cellular functions. Interested candidates will have opportunities to enroll in a PhD programme in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The RA candidate will lead a research project in which he or she will work with a senior research fellow to study the physiological impacts of lysosomal transporters to cells/animals physiology. The RA candidate is expected to:
- Perform required experiments and analysis of data.
- Assist with any other lab members such as assist with postdoc for more complicated experiments when required.
- Work as a strong team player and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce.
Qualifications
The applicant should hold at least a bachelor in life sciences/biomedical research areas from prestigious universities such as NTU, NUS. Preferred experience should include the follows but not limited to:
- Experiences in biochemical techniques.
- Proficiency in molecular cloning, protein expression, immunoprecipitation, Western blots.
- Strong interests in biochemistry.
- Experience in working on platelets and blood cells.
- Experience with mouse work is a plus but not essential.
