About the Position/s

The School is seeking to appoint academics with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Entrepreneurship/Innovation
  • Strategy/Strategic Management
  • Responsible and Sustainable Business
  • Hotel and Tourism Management

All positions require the successful candidate/s to teach subjects in one or more of these disciplines. Positions are available as either balanced teaching/research roles or as teaching focussed positions. All candidates will be expected to undertake some research activity at a level deemed appropriate to both the rank of appointment and the allocated workload. The workload allocation for successful candidates will be determined at the discretion of the Executive Dean taking into consideration the person/s’ prior experience and qualifications to ensure the best fit for the role/s. All positions also require the successful candidate/s to contribute to various service activities which support the School’s strategic needs. Further requirements of the position are outlined in the attached selection criteria.

About the person:

The successful candidate/s will hold a PhD in a relevant business discipline. They will have a track record of teaching excellence in relevant subjects in one or more of the stated discipline areas at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. They will also be able to contribute to curriculum development and design, assessment design, and delivery of content primarily via face-to-face teaching. An interest in responsible business practice and awareness of the implications of the UN Sustainable Development Goals on current and future business practice is desirable. Experience with team-based learning projects and case method teaching will also be well regarded.

Candidates seeking a teaching focussed position will also have clear and sustained connections with industry and/or professional communities through previous employment and/or involvement with professional associations, committee or board memberships, or relevant consulting activities.

Candidates seeking a balanced teaching/research position will be actively publishing in high quality academic publications aligned with one of more of the key discipline areas. They will demonstrate a capacity to undertake high quality research and have the potential to contribute to the supervision of research higher degree students. The ability to collaborate with other researchers in applications for research grant funding is also highly desirable.

To be successful in the role all candidates will demonstrate excellent communication and people skills and work effectively in a team environment with colleagues in the Business School and across the wider university community.

The salary range is $122,074 (Assistant Professor B) to $144,783.95 (Assistant Professor A) plus 10.5% superannuation per annum and will be negotiable commensurate with skills and experience.
