Job description

The post provides an exciting opportunity to join the MSc Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology and become part of a thriving academic community at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London.


The Teaching Fellow will undertake teaching activities on the MSc Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology, and contribute to the administration, delivery, assessment, and enhancement of taught modules. The post holder will work closely with the Programme Leader and other members of staff in the programme.


Specifically, key aspects of the role will include:

•        Contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment of modules in the MSc Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology.

•        Participate in formative and summative assessments including marking and moderation of assignments and module evaluation in the programme.

•        Collaborate in the provision and supervision of research projects.

•        Act as personal tutor and support students in accordance with Departmental, Faculty and College practice and guidelines.

•        Develop the programme curriculum and promote teaching excellence consistent with the College and Faculty educational policy and strategy

•        Deliver on campus and online teaching, learning and assessment using KCL virtual learning environment.


Postholders are encouraged to identify and undertake activities to develop individual research interests, including contribution to joint projects within the Faculty/Department, particularly where these activities enhance the provision of research projects and research-led education.


This post will be offered on a full-time, fixed term contract for 12 months. The post holder must be able to start in early September 2022.


The selection process will include a panel interview and a presentation.


Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment of modules within the MSc Organisational Psychiatry and Psychology, catering for approximately 50 students (Full time and Part time) per annum.
  • Develop and apply the teaching methods and materials that create an unique and innovative learning experience that promotes career and professional development.
  • Mark formative and summative assessments, moderate the marking of assignments and provide students with high quality feedback on their work.
  • Contribute to the administration of modules, including preparing module information, coordinating activities with others collaborating in the programme (i.e., guest lecturers, graduate teaching assistants), managing the procedures for student coursework submissions, and the timely and accurate processing and recording of marks.
  • Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum of the programme
  • Supervise student research projects and dissertations
  • Act as a personal tutor

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.


Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria 

1.       First degree in Psychology (2:1 or above)

2.       PhD in Psychology or a related subject

3.       Expertise in Organisational Psychology and its links with wellbeing and mental health

4.       Skilled in teaching psychological practice and/or theory in a multidisciplinary environment

5.       Experience of learning & development software and platforms such as Moodle

6.       Strong interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and pastoral support

7.       Evidence of excellent teaching potential in a highly international university environment.


Desirable criteria 

1.       PhD in Organisational Psychology or Behaviour

2.       Higher Education teaching qualification (e.g. PGCAPHE or PGCHE)

3.       Evidence of high self-motivation and ability to organise, plan and prioritise own workload

4.       Being a team player able to engage actively with students and colleagues and contribute to the management and administration of the programme
