The University of Southampton is seeking to employ a Research Fellow with a Ph.D. or equivalent professional qualifications to work under the supervision of Dr. Yihua Wang.
Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
Working as part of a growing team in the field of lung fibrosis, you will be expected to perform a variety of cellular and molecular tasks, most prominently mammalian cell culture and media preparation; however, experience with other techniques, including but not limited to PCR, SDS-PAGE and Western blotting, flow cytometry, and imaging are a definite advantage. The successful applicant will be working on the proteomics experiments with the support from the Centre for Proteomics Research and other activities in collaboration with experienced scientists.
The ideal candidate will have the appropriate skill level and experience in biological science and have prior experience with molecular cellular techniques. Prior work experience in a research/molecular biology environment is essential, as the post holder is expected to manage a dynamic workflow in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment. Good written and communications skills are essential, as is computer literacy.
This post is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis until 30/06/2023.
Informal inquiries about the post can be made to Dr. Yihua Wang (yihua.wang@soton.ac.uk).
