This is a great opportunity if you have in chemical biology, biological chemistry, or bioorganic chemistry to work at the chemistry/biology interface. The post is funded by the prestigious Leverhulme Trust and aims to develop a highly specific tool for studying two component signalling systems in Staphylococcus aureus and to unravel interaction of complex signalling networks using the developed tool. The project is highly multidisciplinary involving multistep organic synthesis of the target unnatural amino acids, aptamer screening, molecular biology and microbiological experiments. A proven ability of organic synthesis is key to this project, and willingness, aptitude and experiences in aptamer screening will be beneficial. Excellent communication skills are required as the project involves international collaboration. 

It is essential yout hold a PhD in chemical biology, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioorganic chemistry or a related discipline, and have a strong background in organic synthesis with a good amount of experience in biological experiments including nucleic acids particularly aptamers, molecular biology, protein expression and purification.

This project is funded for 2 years.
