At TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Power Engineering, the Chair of Imaging Techniques in Energy and Process Engineering offers as of now a position as

Research Associate / PhD Position (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

The position is limited until December 31, 2024 and entails 75 % of the fulltime weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).

Tasks: Development of measurement technology for recording flow parameters in experimental plants. In detail, the following work is to be carried out:

• Development of sensor technology for spatially resolved measurement of gas content and flow velocity according to the principle of thermal anemometry
• Comparative evaluation of different sensor variants
• Construction of a sensor with miniaturised transducers.

Requirements: very good university degree (diploma, master's degree) in electrical engineering, precision engineering, physics or a related subject. Theoretical and practical knowledge in precision engineering, power engineering and/or circuitry as well as FEM simulation of electric fields and heat transfer problems are beneficial. Interdisciplinary thinking, independent scientific work, practical experimental skills and abilities as well as an active communication with scientific partners are indispensable for the successful implementation of the project. A very good basic knowledge of mathematics and physics is desirable. A good knowledge in the fields of measurement and sensor technology, circuitry and precision engineering is also beneficial. You should be able to quickly familiarise yourself with new topics, demonstrate a team-oriented and independent approach to work, and be fluent in the English language for scientific communication.
