We are looking for a qualified veterinary surgeon who has experience in production animals to join our School as a Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Practice (LVCP), delivering innovative veterinary education. This is a full-time role, working during office hours Monday-Friday, allowing you time to enjoy your evenings and weekends.

About the role

LVCPs act as clinical and personal tutors to our final year students, supporting their learning and facilitating their transition to new graduates, whilst also supporting practice-based trained clinical mentors in the delivery of our distributed model of clinical education.

The distributed model means that you will work to support our students on their rotations at practices across the UK. Typically, you will spend alternate weeks working at home and then travelling to local practices to deliver in person support to our students. Some travel to Guildford to teach students and support examinations will be required typically at the end of each rotation block, of which there are five. 

About you

This position would suit someone with in production animal practice but additional experience working with equine species would be advantageous. We are looking for someone with an intuitive passion for teaching, but prior academic experience is not a prerequisite, and we are happy to consider candidates considering a career change into academia. You will have a solid grounding in essential veterinary skills and a pragmatic attitude, able to think on your feet and adapt to the requirements of the role.

Due to the nature of the role and the geographical locale of our partner practices, these posts would ideally suit some-one based in the South East or Midlands region, although we will consider the suitability of applicants from other areas based on our partner network.

There would be a requirement to come to Guildford to teach but the role will predominantly be split between working from home and practice visits.
