Overview

The School of Science at Edith Cowan University (ECU) offer undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in a wide range of scientific disciplines. This role is aligned with the Science and Mathematics discipline and the courses taught within, though will have academic responsibility for the whole of school WIL program.

A strategic focus for the School is the employability of its graduating students. The WIL Liaison Coordinator for the Science and Mathematics discipline in the School is responsible for coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate WIL study units; establishing and managing relationships with industry partners; and matching undergraduate/postgraduate students to work placements in the area of science and mathematics.

The position will also support similar activities in the areas of computing and security. This position reports to the Associate Dean (Science and Mathematics) and works closely with the Associate Dean Teaching and Learning and will suit an individual who can confidently meet the following selection criteria.

The position is being offered as a part-time roll (0.6 FTE) to coordinate the WIL program. However, consideration will be given to a full time appointment if the candidate has experience and expertise that can contribute to other aspects of the School’s teaching and research programs.

Relevant Experience

  • Has worked in the discipline area of Science and Mathematics, including Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, Marine Ecosystems and Wildlife Conservation, Biological Science, Chemistry, Horticulture, Data Science, Mathematics or Physics.
  • Has worked in the higher education sector.
  • Has, or is capable of, establishing networks in relevant industries.
  • Has designed and coordinated delivery of academic teaching units.
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise numerous tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop good relationships and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of STEM is an advantage.

Selection Criteria

  • A PhD in an appropriate field
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, develop and teach units at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Commitment to and demonstrated achievement of excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply community, industry and/or professional collaboration in your teaching performance in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience at using online technologies in the delivery of academic programs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake high quality research which addresses the needs and priorities for a sustainable community; and/or demonstrate research impact through metrics relevant for the discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience (within your organisation) of:
    • Working with others and in teams, establishing networks within discipline; and/or
    • Gaining an understanding of learning and teaching, research and university governance; and/or
    • Sound management of sessional staff;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Equal Opportunity and Occupational Safety and Health requirements

Current driving licence – level C is required

Benefits & Remuneration

This part time/full time, fixed term (3 years) position attracts remuneration of $102,253 - $120,814 pa pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
