Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Tissue Engineering/Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 516298), to commence as soon as possibleand no later than January 1, 2023.  The appointment will initially be made on a one-year temporary basis.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree programs.  The University of Hong Kong has a highly ranked engineering school and an active Biomedical Engineering Program.  The Department employs about 30 full-time faculty members and has well-equipped teaching and research facilities and support.  Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.mech.hku.hk

Applicants should possess a relevant Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.  Previous teaching experience is preferred but not essential.  Prior academic background in tissue engineering, biomaterials, microfabrication and micropatterning and mechanoregulation will be advantageous.  They should also have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and an excellent command of English.

The appointee is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Biomedical Engineering, such as cell and tissue engineering, biomaterials and biomedical engineering.  He/She is also expected to supervise undergraduate student projects and research postgraduate students, and to participate in administrative duties which promote the educational mission of the University.
