About the Role

The position is primarily focused on the preparation and delivery of teaching activities within UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences’ undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. This position will contribute to the development of curricula and will utilise professional/discipline-related expertise to deliver high-quality teaching across the disciplines of biology, physiology, biomedical sciences, nutrition and food sciences. There will be a particular focus on teaching large courses in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to students from a range of degrees in nursing, midwifery and allied health. The Lecturer is responsible for carrying out a range of activities to develop and maintain scholarly expertise related to the discipline.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and implement learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
  • Adopt appropriate teaching approaches (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to promote student learning
  • Contribute to the design and development of engaging course curricula and materials and ensure that teaching is informed by relevant research in the field
  • Undertake teaching as part of the teaching team, including co-ordinating moderation of marking exercises
  • Act as a student advisor by providing academic counselling, mentoring and advice to students

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A doctoral qualification in Biological or Biomedical Sciences, or a Masters in a relevant discipline, or professional/industry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching duties including the design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
  • Understanding and experience in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies
  • Demonstrated competence in using the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
  • High level administrative and organisational skills
