Faculty/ Directorate

The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media has an excellent reputation for teaching quality across a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. Excellent teaching is at the heart of our commitment to professional, creative and vocational education. 

The Role requirements: 

To provide excellent teaching to the university in the relevant areas of expertise. 

Of particular interest are applicants who can teach in Artificial Intelligence modules such as Fuzzy Logic, Mobile Robotics, Computational Intelligence Optimisation and Deep Learning, and laboratories related to Artificial Intelligence. To be an active citizen of the subject group and the Department and work closely with local business communities. 

In addition to the Job Description and Person for the role of Lecturer there are additional specific duties and/or skills/expertise that are required.

Specialist duties, responsibilities, qualifications and skills/experience  
To provide excellent teaching to the university in the relevant areas of expertise. Of particular interest are applicants who can teach one or more of the following: 

Essential Criteria

  • PhD in Data Analytics/Data Science/Data Engineering or closely related.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in teaching modules related to Data Analytics/Data Science.
  • Demonstrate strong competency and skills to develop and deliver PG modules (such as Business Intelligence Systems Applications & Development, Analytics Programming using Python & R, Big Data Analysis, Advanced Machine Learning Algorithms) and laboratories Data Analytics.
  • Experience in Data Analytics software & tools like SPSS, SAS, R, Python language, Power BI or any other Analytical programming languages. 
  • Record of good research publications.
  • Provide support in student recruitment and community engagement.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of leading (or having notable involvement) a successful accreditation / validation for an academic programme
  • Experience in providing student support at HE level
  • Industry experience - with extensive contacts, knowledge, and expertise
  • Having teaching qualification, e.g. Fellowship HEA
