As part of our new Strategic Plan, the University of Greenwich is elevating its employability support for students, alumni, and employers. We have a long-held commitment to employment-focussed degrees, and the Employability Skills Team posts will play an essential part in ensuring the University becomes a sector leader in its relationships with employers and providing students with outstanding employability support.

We are seeking to appoint creative and energetic advisors to design and deliver innovative support which engages students in preparing for their future careers. Applications from candidates of all backgrounds are welcomed, as diversity is at the heart of our values. We are looking for applicants with experience of delivering workshops and providing guidance, ideally in an education setting. The Employability Skills Advisors will work in partnership with academic and professional services staff to provide students with a comprehensive service which is innovative and impactful.

You will have an opportunity to express a preference around which Faculty you would prefer to specialise in the selection process.

  1. Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences (Greenwich and Avery Hill Campus)
  2. Faculty of Engineering and Science (Medway Campus)
  3. Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Greenwich Campus)
  4. Greenwich Business School (Greenwich Campus)

Educated to a degree level, with an interest in the development of students and recent graduates, you will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills. You will need the skills to work independently, often within a busy office environment, in lecture theatres and classrooms, as well as off-site and virtual/remote activities. You will have a proactive attitude, excellent organisation skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities whilst retaining attention to detail. The new team will have a hybrid approach to working which will include remote delivery of virtual services, as well as in-person delivery on campuses.

We are recruiting to 7 permanent posts and 1 fixed term maternity cover.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Hester Burnige H.Burnige@Greenwich.ac.uk

We do this through taking positive action such as encouraging applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT+ people. As part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Time to Change Employer Pledge/Mentally Healthy Universities, we are committed to promoting and supporting the physical and mental health of all our staff, and removing barriers to improve inclusion.

We encourage applicants to disclose experience of mental health problems so we can support them fully during our recruitment process and make any necessary reasonable adjustments. Any information disclosed will be kept confidential and separate from the job application form.

We are making significant strides to understand and continuously improve our employees’ experience and we are committed to implementing progressive diversity talent management.
