Psychology is an ambitious and successful Department in the University, and a friendly place to work. You will join a highly collegiate and professional team with staff who are keen to share expertise, provide mentorship and support professional development. The Department values diversity and equality. We recognise the importance of a healthy work-life balance and support our employees by accommodating flexibility in working patterns to suit caring needs. Positive consideration will be given to applicants who have had career breaks for reasons including maternity, paternity or adoption leave, disability or illness. The University of Southampton holds an Athena SWAN Silver Award demonstrating our commitment gender equality in academia.

A team of researchers and psychologists at the university are working on a new project aiming to increase psychological knowledge and expertise within the homelessness sector. There are multiple projects that stem from this aim, including the development of a new educational programme in homelessness.

This role requires you to develop and execute a robust evaluation programme of the overall projects. The evaluation will likely require both quantitative and qualitative methods to understand the impact of the projects and is only guided by general research questions so there is considerable autonomy in this role.

As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination and delivery of the data analysis of the evaluation with the support of the programme lead and team. You will be responsible for planning and conducting analysis and interpretation and dissemination of findings of this project.

We invite applications from candidates who have a PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Medical Statistics, Health Services Research or Psychology. The title of Research Fellow is applied on completion of PhD, prior to this qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant is given.

You will be highly motivated, responsible, and creative. You will have excellent communication skills, be experienced in working with a diverse and inclusive team of staff and students, and be able to contribute to, and support the university and school strategies.
