Job Details

Applications are invited for a temporary 46-48 months post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of Agriculture and Food Science.

PLAN'EAT aims to develop strategies to support the transition to healthy sustainable dietary behaviour through developing an understanding of its underlying factors and drivers and through the design of effective recommendations, tools and interventions targeting food system actors. PLAN'EAT will implement an evidence-based, multi-actor, multi-layered and systemic approach at macro (food system), meso (food environment) and micro (individual) levels. Socio-cultural and geographic contexts will be considered by implementing Living Labs (LLs) across different geographical regions and population groups.

University College Dublin (UCD) as a partner in PLAN'EAT will participate in all WPs of the programme. The team will specifically be involved in the analysis of existing dietary intake patterns across European countries to determine factors influencing sustainable healthy eating. In addition, UCD will implement a living lab within the UCD campus to determine barriers and enablers to sustainable healthy eating practices, developing tools and services to support a transition to a more healthy and sustainable food consumption pattern on campus.

As a partner in PLAN'EAT UCD are seeking a post-doctoral candidate to join a research team focusing on analysis of existing dietary intake, health and lifestyle data. In addition, the post will support the development of, management and analysis of findings from the living lab to be established within UCD.

In addition to the scientific duties, the successful candidate will work closely with the lead UCD PIs, Prof. Eileen Gibney & Dr Aifric O'Sullivan, in the management of the overall work plan, associated deliverables, reports and scientific papers, supporting the lead researchers in the management of the team and work undertaken. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
