Description

The Legal Studies program at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to fill an adjunct faculty position to teach the Legal Studies Capstone Seminar, Legal Writing and Research in the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters.  A degree in law (J.D. or equivalent) is required. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be kept on file and reviewed according to emerging needs. The successful candidate must be able to obtain a letter of no objection from their home institution.

The Program in Legal Studies is situated within both the Social Sciences and the Arts and Humanities Divisions, and it thus aims to serve as a bridge between these divisions. The design of the Legal Studies curriculum facilitates double majors and allows ample leeway for taking courses in other academic disciplines. The curriculum aspires to foster in students the readiness and ability to act in a truly human manner which entails qualities such as serving as an advocate for individual rights and as an artisan of the common good.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • UAE citizen or UAE residence visa holder.
  • Eligible for an NOC letter from current employer/sponsor (if applicable) permitting the candidate to teach at NYUAD.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree or with equivalent degree or law-related discipline and have established a record of teaching. A strong candidate will also have academic expertise and professional experience in an international context that affords a diverse body of knowledge not exclusively limited to Western-based law (common and civil law systems). 

Adjunct faculty may teach between 1 and 4 classes during the academic year (during Fall and Spring semesters).
