Lecturer in Forensic Psychology
The Department of Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Sciences and Sackler Institute of Translational Research is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Forensic Psychology. The new post is an exciting opportunity for a forensic psychologist to join the department.
The post holder will co-lead and further develop the Department’s MSc in Clinical Forensic Psychology, contributing to all aspects of the Programme’s delivery, with the support of the course co-lead, Departmental Education Lead and Head of Department. This is one of the country’s few BPS accredited courses in Clinical Forensic Psychology, now entering its 16th year. The post holder will also contribute to the further development and delivery of the BSc Psychology Year 3 module in Applied Forensic Psychology. The post holder will be expected to deliver a consistently excellent standard of educational provision and student experience, incorporating best practice from the wider Higher Education sector, and maintaining a focus on diversity and inclusion as appropriate throughout. They will provide leadership and management of other academic staff contributing to the programme, in particular module leaders. They will act as a tutor and supervisor to post-graduate MSc students.
The successful candidate will also be encouraged to develop novel research of relevance to clinical forensic populations. The department fosters a strong inter-disciplinary atmosphere.

This is a part-time post - 20% full time equivalent
The post holder will be required to:
• Act as the Co-Programme Director in leading our Clinical Forensic Psychology (CFP) Masters programme (together with a lecturer in clinical psychology), including management and delivery of the core criminal justice system Module, and contributing to wider aspects of the Programme’s delivery and external accreditation.
• Lead in 4 educational domains: teaching and student support; leadership in teaching and curriculum development; contributing to educational scholarship; seeking recognition for educational practices eg FHEA application, faculty and school teaching awards.
• Contribute to the following aspects of the courses with the support of the course co-lead, departmental and divisional educational teams: quality assurance; marketing and admissions; induction; curriculum content; assessment and feedback practices; digital and blended learning approaches; student communication, support and progress.
• Have good social and management skills as the role requires liaising between students, other teaching staff and external experts. Given this is a niche course which attracts high-quality students from a range of disciplines and nationalities, the post holder will be expected to be sympathetic to and have understanding of diverse approaches and cultures while at the same time being aware of the other demands experienced by academic and clinical supervisors.

Skills, knowledge, and experience
1. DForPsy or Chartered Forensic Psychologist
2. Must hold full chartered membership of the Division of Forensic Psychology within the British Psychological Society. Or be able to prove eligibility to hold full chartered membership.
3. Training in specialised area of psychological practice in working with adults in forensic services, with significant mental health or behavioural difficulties (with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice).
4. Registered with HPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and evidence of continued professional development
5. Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized psychological assessments and interventions for adults in forensic settings and advanced knowledge of psychological assessments and clinical psychometrics
6. Expert knowledge in relevant research areas including psychological research methodology and complex statistical analysis
7. Promise of building a research reputation as evidenced by peer reviewed publications
