Your passion for event planning and communications will be crucial to the success of the role. Imagine creating events that connect medical companies with non-invasive diagnostic technologies, or manufacturing companies with laser research that will reduce carbon emissions.

Based in the Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics (ZIPN) our world-leading research institute with one of the best academic clean rooms in Europe, you will join our dedicated Business Development (BD) team which provides a wide range of support services to facilitate partnership and collaboration with external partners. The team provide support by contracts negotiation, ongoing research programmes, guidance and support around technology commercialisation and export control. In addition, the team plans and delivers communications and marketing strategies and plans to raise awareness and engagement with research. 

The Institute has a significant portfolio of research projects, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), including major programmes, Airguide Photonics which aims to revolutionise fibre optics for applications such as next-generation internet. and the Future Photonics works with a network of over 40 companies, representing strategic UK sectors including telecommunications, healthcare, defence and aerospace, to support the rapid commercialisation of innovative photonics manufacturing technologies.

Your primary role will be managing and supporting events; coordinating content production and distribution via social media and email as well as delivery support for video content and an annual report. You will work collaboratively with the wider team and external suppliers, to help deliver events for Airguide Photonics and the Future Photonics Hub programme.

You will bring a passion for events and communications, demonstrating experience from concept through to delivery, and have a proven record of accomplishment for delivering high quality events and communications. It goes without saying that you will have exceptional organisational skills, with an eye for detail, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to deadlines.  You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal and confident working alongside a variety of colleagues and building relationships. 

You will have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant roles and job-related training. And demonstrate a logical approach to your tasks.

This post is offered on a full time fixed term contract until 31/05/2023 due to funding restrictions, however part-time would be considered.
